I LOVE Music period. All kinds of music, not just one genre. I have been doing music for many years now and have experienced a lot of good things personally surrounding music. I met new people that I never would have met if it wasn't for music. I met good and bad people when it comes to the business side because some people will do anything to be successful. I don't want to single out any one genre of music but when I heard that there were Hip Hop Concerts in Russia???.. I was like Dammmnn!!! You mean to tell me they get down like that in Russia!! Besides money and Love I'm sure
Hip Hop is the universal language. There is not one area of everyday life where we are not influenced by Hip Hop. You turn on the TV and almost every other commercial has Hip Hop music in the background. There are more people than ever before that can't hold back when that "Song" comes on. I mean it doesn't matter the race, age, creed or color.
Like with everything in the world there is good in it and bad. Hip hop started out as a platform for the poor people to be heard. Once it drew the masses then the Money Hungry Industry found a way to take it over but make it seem as if it was for the people that were the artists and producers in this newly popular music. Hip Hop quickly became the only music to cross all barriers because there were no rules to it. It wasn't held down by this type of beat or this sound. There was no restriction on being a musician or having a band. There was no restriction on age or how much money you had, Nobody had to fill out no applications and then..... The Industry took it over.
Hip Hop has changed not because of the music, If you remember Hip Hop had no restrictions, but because the Industry changed Peoples views on Hip Hop. Hip Hop went from being all inclusive to now if you aren't from here or your not this old or you don't wear this or you don't drive that or ... you get the picture. Hip Hop is the story of my life, your life, his life, her life and everyone's life. I grew up in the hood but had different experiences than my home boy down the street. Both my parents were there but his dad wasn't in his life. My parents both worked for us to barely make it living next to the projects because they made a little too much to get stamps. His mom worked a little and assistance from stamps and living in the projects helped them to barely make it. We both ended up doing whatever to get money cause we needed it. We have similar but different stories. This is what Hip Hop is all about.
I know Hip Hop was started in NY in the inner cities but the thing that gets overlooked is that the same problems that helped start it there, existed everywhere! Hip Hop was a way to release the pain without crying, a way to be rebel without going to jail and it was all we could own without money or permission. Now the Industry has it where Artists have to be a certain way and from a certain place to make it or that's what people believe.
Hip Hop is everyone! Hip Hop should Unite us. I Am Hip Hop!!! and so are You!
